“Phat” is early 90s slang, it’s an alternative way of saying something is “nice” or “cool”. It’s a play on the word “fat” and it’s pronunciation.

The usage of phat was more urban. When we introduced it to the burbs it was funny, people took it as an insult at first! I had to tell my friends “Yo man, phat means a good thing!”

Early internet slang too, quite a few AOL chatroom dwellers flooded “phat”.
