In 1999, Star Wars fans around the country camped out days, and sometimes weeks, before the premier of Star Wars: Episode One The Phantom Menace. It was one of the first films to witness such a fan phenomenon.
When Batman and Batman Returns released, people lined up around the theater. Same with The Mask and Jurassic Park 2. NEVER have I seen fans camped out weeks before a film. In 1999, we were on the verge of Social Media and was crazy to see people blogging while sitting (or camping) in line! They must’ve had a long dial-up cord!
Wasn’t a big Star Wars fan but the hype was off the charts! Didn’t somebody camp out like three months in advance!?
I wonder how they felt after seeing the film!
