Sup is an abbreviated version of “what’s up?”, It’s a greeting that was used in the 90s.

“What’s up?” was more common, like a “hi” to someone. Sup is strange one. I’d used it when greeting multiple friends, like “sup y’all”. Sometimes I’d use sup if a friend was having a problem with something, like “sup, you need help?”. It was preference, but mostly east coast 90s kids tended to use “sup?” more frequent. |

Sup sometimes could lead to a beef(fight), like “Sup, you wanna throw down homie?”. |
